The welcome reception will take place at 19:30 on Saturday, 15th September in the University Aula, Building I (KG I), which is the building to the right of the conference venue (link: http://www.uni-freiburg.de/universitaet/kontakt-und-wegweiser/lageplaene/universitaetszentrum) The reception will be held following Ronald Kaback’s talk. Refreshments will be served.
The Conference Banquet is scheduled to take place in the manor house “Schloss Reinach”, Munzingen at 20:00 on Tuesday, 18th September. There will be a shuttle service to Schloss Reinach directly from the conference venue departing from 19:15. An aperitif will be served in the gardens of the manor house (weather permitting) following by supper in the great hall. The shuttle service back to Freiburg departs from 23:00. We recommend a semiformal dress code keeping in mind that it could be a little chilling this time of year.
Dinner in honour of Ron Kaback
The dinner in honour of Ron Kaback will take place at the “Dattler”, a restaurant located on the hillside adjacent to the city of Freiburg at 20:00 on Monday, 17th September. The best way to reach the Dattler is on foot. It is a 10 min walk from the conference venue to the “Stadtgarten”. At the Stadtgarten, a small cable car brings you directly to the restaurant. Alternatively, you can walk the whole way or take a car. There are parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Charges for dinner are not (!) included in the conference fee.
Guided walking tour of Freiburg
A guided historic tour (in English) through your host city will start at 16:00 on Tuesday, 18th September directly from the conference venue. The tour will last approximately one hour and is organized in groups of 30 participants or less. This is a walking tour as the city center of Freiburg is a beautiful but small pedestrian area. There is no extra charge for this tour.
Other tours for registered accompanying persons and registered participants
A scenic bus trip (roughly 1 hour) to Titisee, a lovely little town in the middle of the Black Forest, will take place on at 14:30 on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. This means that this tour takes place at the same time as the Symposium lectures of the day. On-site Titisee you will have the possibility to stroll through the town, maybe buy a cuckoo-clock, some Black Forest smoked ham or simply have a cup of coffee in the beautiful surroundings. The bus will bring you back to Freiburg at 19:00. There is no extra charge for this tour.
The concert by Bill Rutherford and the “Basquevilles” will take place at 20:00 on Sunday, 16th September in the “Peterhofkeller”, which is located just behind the conference venue (link: http://www.uni-freiburg.de/universitaet/kontakt-und-wegweiser/lageplaene/universitaetszentrum). There is no extra admission charge but you pay for your own beverages.
